I dated a Japanese guy at one point when living in Japan. He
would always introduce me as his “American girlfriend.” Like he had to make it clear that I was a foreigner to everyone. It’s felt like a weird…status thing. I don’t know how to explain it, but it wasn’t a great feeling, so I broke up with him. He wasn’t a gaijin hunter per se, but he just seemed idk how to explain it. 🤔He was very kind and sweet, but I wanted to just be someone’s girlfriend and not have to have my nationality as my main feature.
Anyway. If you’re dating a foreigner…cultural differences are fun. But I think they should be a person before they are a nationality. Just my opinion.
