それで、英語の単語 “hundred” を見ていきましょう〜

Because of that, let’s look at the English word, “hundred”

知っているように、”hundred” は「百」という意味です
900 “nine hundred”「９百」後で、1000 “one thousand”「(１)千」と言いますね
As you know, “hundred” means “hyaku” ｢百｣
After 900 “nine hundred”, we say 1000 “one thousand”

では、この数 1100 は「千百」でしょう？
はい、そうです… でも、他の読み方もあります 🤔
Then, this number 1100 is “one thousand one hundred”, right?
Yes, that’s right... but there’s also another way of reading it 🤔

英語では “eleven hundred” ｢11百」とも言います 😄
年の読み方のようですね
In English, we also say “eleven hundred” 😄
Similar to how we read years

例えば：｢本の値段は￥2300 です」📚
英語で “two thousand three hundred” か “twenty-three hundred” が言えます
For example: “The price of the book is ¥2300” 📚
In English, you can say “two thousand three hundred” or “twenty-three hundred”

でも、もし ￥2000 だったら、”twenty hundred” と言わない気がする 🤔
たいていただ “two thousand” と言いますね
However, if the number was ¥2000, I don’t think you would say “twenty hundred” 🤔
You would usually just say “two thousand”

9900 後で、10000 “ten thousand” (一万) ですね
全然 “hundred hundred” と言いません！😆
After 9900, we say 10000 “ten thousand”
We don’t say “hundred hundred” at all! 😆

“ten thousand” と「一万」の違いは別の問題ですね 😅
