遅ればせながら、家族で父の日を祝いました。or (少し)遅くなりましたが、家族で父の日を祝いました。We don’t say “遅れるevent” in this case.

食べ物はおいしかったです！

料理がおいしかったです！料理 suits your situation better than 食べ物. 料理 reminds us of food on a dish,or food which a cook finish making. It can be cuisine. 食べ物 could mean the same thing, but 食べ物 sounds kind of straightforward. 食べ物 could mean something not cooked to eat like fruits. Or, you can say “料理もおいしかったです！”
