Phrase of the day “Off the top of my head”
We use this phrase
when we give an answer but we don't have time to think about it properly. It’s basically giving an answer from memory, without referring to any sources first. It can be used both formally and informally, and is usually only spoken.
Here’s an example:
Tony 🗣 “When do you think the project will be finished?”
Debbie 🗣 “Umm, off the top of my head, I’d say early next week”
