Some responses you might hear in English

Uh huh- “yes” an agreement

response sound or a sound of suspicious sarcasm
Ex. “Jayda, did you eat today?”
“Uh huh”

Uh uh- “no” a disagreement sound
Ex. “Are you mad at me?”
“Uh uh”

Mmcht- this is a sound you make when you’re annoyed! People also call it “sucking your teeth”

Ex. “Mmcht, are you serious right now?”

Aht or Aht aht- meaning “Stop” (usually used towards children) * a warning sound *

Mhm- “yes” an agreement response sound

Ex. “Lyric, did you clean your room?”
“Mhm”
These are all incredibly informal and shouldn’t be used when speaking to adults or people you don’t know!

The meanings of these sounds can also be different depending on the drawl and tone of the sound.

shouldn't be used when speaking to adults, but. Is it OK for two adults to communicate?

@zack努力考雅思 of course! As long as they know each other or if they’re in an informal setting
