やまのつぎにすきなふうけいは、いわです。- Next to mountains, rocks are my second
favorite landscape. Here is another chapter in the recount of my recent trip. We've arrived at the Colorado National Monument, a series of canyons, cliffs and sandstone towers. A road takes you up to the plateau above the main canyon, where many view points offer sweeping vistas.
I was excited about the spring flowers, especially the cacti. The prickly pear cactus flowers were everywhere in their bright yellow and pink colors.
It was hot, quite a change for us. ☀️ After a lovely picnic lunch we took a short hike to a rock formation called Devils Kitchen (#3). Very nice!
We then proceeded to drive along the road and stopped at the various view points. Every spot is a bit different and I always have a fun time looking for good photo compositions in places like this.
Next time I will finish this part of the trip with some more pictures of this park and then we'll move on to another national park.
