Phrase of the day “He’s out of his depth”
We use this phrase
to say that work or studies are too difficult for somebody. It’s used formally and informally, and can be both spoken or written.
Here’s an example:
Debbie 🗣 “How did Mike do today in his new job?”
Tony 🗣 “Well, he said that he was a bit out of his depth, but I’m sure he’ll adjust to it eventually”
