    A when some one like u（girls like boys or boys like girls）when one of them want to 表白 they say 我喜欢你 not use for a friend if it use on a friend maybe u like your friend （the same way girls feel boys）

    Everyone will say it during a day,usually the couple say it for propose. Between the friends we don't use it. I hope this can help you

    Most of them are used to express feelings, such as boys like girls, or mothers like babies. I like you, and I personally understand the tendency to express in love. Two people like it less than love. If you like to use it alone, just express what you like, for example, I like this pen, and so on. 大多数使用在表达感情上，比如男孩喜欢女孩，或者妈妈喜欢宝宝。我喜欢你，我个人理解倾向于爱情中的表达，两个人之间喜欢比爱情少一些。如果喜欢单独使用时，仅仅表达出来的就是喜欢，比如我喜欢这支笔，等等。

    @Belle 谢谢。so you can say, you like this pen, or, you like this movie, or you like the beach. But saying “I like you” expresses more of a personal feeling than if it was an object. What is a culturally appropriate way to say you like someone using basic Chinese vocabulary without meaning to sound impolite? ... does 你是个好人 sound ok?

    @John 火锅王子 你可以说我喜欢我的妈妈，我喜欢那个明星，我喜欢邻居家的狗，如果单独使用在一个异性时，可能更多的是情感表达。 你是个好人，可以单独使用，中文听起来就像表达你人很好一样，评价一个人热情又友善。 @John 火锅 王子 You can say that I like my mother, I like that star, and I like dogs from neighbors. If you use it with someone you like, it may be more emotional expression. You are a good person and can be used alone. Chinese sounds like expressing that you are very good，very nice.

    In China, when people say "我喜欢你"，especially a grow-up says this to another grow-up, most of the time it means "I love you, I fall in love with you. " We don't say this to our friends. But it's OK to say this to a child to show you like him or her. So you can say"你这人真不错" “你这人真好” instead.

    1. Mostly for people in a relationship 2. When they are giving confessions 3. Not for usual friend. In western TV show I saw a boss (male or female) would say to employee (male or female)“I like you” or the senior talking to each other would say “l like this guy (probably a young, ambitious, component person”. But in Chinese context this expression weighs more and is more sensual. More often people (unless they are giving confession) would express their likes in a less direct way “(I think) you’re great/awesome/totally capable etc instead of “I like you”. Another example I can come up with is in Western culture people who just meet and talk for a few minutes might say to the other “I like you”? I am not so sure but I guess it may contain implications like “I think you are funny”,“we had a great talk”, “maybe we can hangout for a drink” but very unlikely meaning “I like you and want you to be my boyfriend or girlfriend”. Hope this helps:)

    It use for a relationship about crush 😍 love ❤️..... We don't use for friends. We say ” I like this friend instead of I like you”. Also we are shy to say that for our family ( uncommon ).
