When starting out, really get your vowel
sounds down. Just like I’m starting with pinyin, because Chinese kids start there. Well, kids in America start out with letter sounds and the vowels are the trickiest because they can change when in combination or in specific words. If you master these sounds first, you will be much faster at pronouncing the rest. a: short a (tap) long a (tape)
e: short e (get) long e (he)
i: short i (big) long i (hi)
o: short o (top) long o (toe)
u: short u (cut) long u (cute)
y: it depends on the word, but it will sound like the above sounds
