freedom was restored to South Korea
after World War II, Hangeul Day became an official holiday in the year 1949.


Until this time, the name Hangul was not widely known, so the name'Gaganal' was used.It was in 1928 that the name was changed to Hangeul Day .


The Korean Alphabet Day, known as Hangeul Day (한글날) in South Korea, and Chosŏn'gŭl Day in North Korea, is a national Korean commemorative day marking the invention and the proclamation of Hangul (한글; 조선글), the alphabet of the Korean language, by the 15th-century Korean monarch Sejong the Great. It is observed on October 9 in South Korea and on January 15 in North Korea.


This is not the day Korean was made. Korean is a language that has existed since ancient times thousands of years ago, and King Sejong created Hangeul, the most suitable script for writing this language.


For 400 years, Hangul Day is 58 times on Tuesday , Friday and Sunday , 57 times on Wednesday and Thursday , 56 times on Monday and Saturday


Hangul scientific supremacy is a claim, made by a select number of linguistic scholars, that the Hangul alphabet invented by King Sejong the Great in 1443 is the simplest, most logical, most ingenious and most scientific writing system in the world
