Idiom of the Day:
“Wild goose chase”
If someone takes on a
pointless endeavor without getting any results, we will say they “went on a wild goose chase.” Maybe you drove around the city trying to buy a special present but the stores did not have the item. Maybe a disgruntled coworker is trying to get you fired by trying to find evidence that you are not a good employee but they can’t find any. These would be examples of “wild goose chases.”Download the HelloTalk app to join the conversation.
