Stick to your guns

This military idiom gives

an order to persevere and not back down at all costs. If you were doing a business negotiation, someone might encourage you to “stick to your guns” to not lower your price. As a teacher, I have to “stick to my guns” and not allow students to turn in late work. Otherwise, they may try to turn in their work at the end of the semester! (This actually happened to me once by a student during Covid!)
