New Year Resolution.
The new year is a time to make a change
in life. It is a time for self-improvement. It is at this time of year that many of us make a New Year's Resolution. We pick something to improve in our lives, and try to carry it out. Many people try to lose weight, quit smoking, or stop some other bad habit. Others take a more positive approach and choose something to begin, such as reading more books, studying a new language, or some other beneficial activity. This is my New Year's Resolution: I will try to have more realistic expectations.
I think the difference between reality and my expectations has been a big source of unhappiness to me this year. I often place my expectations too high. The feeling becomes that of constant failure. I will try to set more realistic goals. I will not expect so much from other people. I will try to better understand the limitations of life on earth.
