Briefly mentioned on Day 11, Christmas Trees were first brought to the UK from Germany in the 1800’s and made increasingly popular by Prince Albert.

Even 200 years ago, the trees were decorated with baubles, fruit, acorns and even candles (although these were soon replaced with safer electric lights).

A warm, brightly-lit Christmas tree decorated in beautiful glass ornaments, with presents hiding underneath waiting for Christmas Day has become one of the most recognisable images of the festive season, and most loved for all families.
