My Country by Rachael
I am drifting
above snow capped peaks
. Razor sharp edges
cut through the blue sky.
Eternal snows
threatened by time
lay out before me.
I am lost
in the wonder of the majesty,
the creation of your hands,
edges of golden light on ashen slopes,
purple valleys in relief against tawny hills,
ivory crests punctuated by deep shadows.
I am free
as a bird soaring across
your wild mountains.
My spirit lifts with the up currents.
This is my land, my home, my delight.
I cannot forsake it any more than I can forsake you.
