Since the word “diet” has several meanings, there is no word in Japanese that matches it exactly. We just call a limitation on amount we eat for health “ダイエット”, which comes from “diet” as you can imagine. You can also say “ダイエットする” as a verb. “食事” just means eating something. Hawai is one of the place I want to go someday. I’m so jealous. Foods looks so nice! 😄

  • Aina

@Su If you say " 始まります" it starts without your will. If you say "始めます" you starts as your will. As example After holidays, the work starts, but It's not starts because you have will to start your work. Automatically work starts. So you can write 休暇が終わったら仕事が始まります。 But diet doesn't start without your will. So you can write 休暇が終わったらダイエット始めます。

  • Keiko
