大家好,好久不見!
我最近在學習印尼語,發現了印尼語和爪哇語跟我們毛利語有很多相同的單詞耶!
Hey everyone
, it's been a while! I've been hitting up some Indonesian lately, and I've found that there are many words in common between Indonesian and Javanese AND Māori from here in Aotearoa.
Cool words in common:
Pronouns:
(Māori words after English )
I/me: au like aku in Indonesian (aku means my in Māori)
You: koe like kowe in Javanese
He/she: ia like dia or ia in Indonesian
What: Aha like apa
Fire: Ahi like api
Eye: Mata like mata
Ear: Tāringa like telinga
Fish: Ika like ikan (Indonesian)
Death: Mate like mati
Sky: rangi like langit
Numbers:
Two: rua like dua
Three: toru like telu (Javanese)
Four: whā comes from the pat in empat
Five: rima like lima
Six: ono from the same origin as enam
Seven: whitu like pitu (Javanese)
Eight: waru like wolu (Javanese)
(My knowledge of Javanese is very limited, so there may be mistakes)
There are others too like matua and atua, which could have come from tuan and tuhan, because Māori uses prefixes.
I guess we're just one big Austronesian family!
