8月から日本に住んでいて英語を教える仕事をしています！

今日は僕の日本語を学ぶ悔しいこ

とを少し話ししたいと思います。

二年間ぐらい一所懸命日本語を勉強していても、いくら文法や単語を覚えても、実際の会話で頭が真っ白になって日本語を全く話せません。本当に悔しいです。

そうして気が付きました。それまでしていたのは文法や単語を覚えることだけでした。実際に会話やコミュニケーションを全くしていませんでした。

僕が新しい日本語を学ぶゴールを決めました。それは、間違えを気にせずに、日本語を使って人と話すこと、コミュニケーションをとること、日本のことを知ること、日本人と繋がることです。

Hello, my name is Robert.

I have been living in Japan since August and teaching English.

Today I will talk a little about my Japanese learning frustrations.

I have studied Japanese diligently for about two years now, but no matter how much grammar and vocabulary I memorize, in a real conversation my head goes blank and I cannot speak Japanese at all. I have been so frustrated with myself.

Then I realized something. Up until now, all I have done is memorized words and grammar. I haven’t been focusing on actually communicating and using Japanese in real conversations.

I set a new learning goal for myself. It is to not worry about mistakes and speak with people, to learn and to connect with
Japanese people.
