Pictures from St.Simons Island today. ☀
The island is the largest
barrier island in the Golden Isles. It lies across Marshes of Glynn (salt marshes), made famous by poet Sidney Lanier. The lighthouse was rebuilt in 1872 after it was destroyed in the Civil War.
From this island you can see migrating whales and dolphins.
On some of the oak trees faces have been carved to represent sailors who drowned on ships made from St.Simons trees. They are called tree spirits.
