Why am I learning other / so many languages?
Just to give you
all a bit of background, I was brought up bilingual speaking both English and Portuguese. I was raised in London which is a very multicultural city where different cultures and languages are celebrated so I grew up surrounded by different cultures. I went on to study European languages and cultures at university (French and Spanish) and have also lived abroad in France and Spain. I absolutely love travelling and learning about other cultures. I try to travel as often as possible but now this is difficult due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Why Japanese and Korean?
Since I have focussed on European languages in the past I would now like to learn some basics in these languages,, learn about the cultures and travel more around Asia. I find both languages and cultures intriguing.
Although I use my languages at work, my job is not directly related to languages or linguistics so apps like HelloTalk really help with keeping up my hobby.
Please be patient with me, especially with Japanese and Korean. I am a complete beginner and would like to learn basics slowly by chatting to native speakers and making friends as unfortunately, I don't have a lot of free time for classes 😞.
I also need to practice my French & Spanish so I don't forget these languages. I've forgotten so much French 😞
Have a nice day everyone and thanks for your help!
