Meaning, something that really annoys you.
Usually something small and specific.
Does not annoy most people.

You never leave dirty dishes in the sink.
You wash them immediately.
If there are dishes in the sink, you get really annoyed.
You can say:

“My pet peeve is dirty dishes in the sink.”

Meaning, dirty dishes in the sink really annoy me.

“Pet peeve” relates to a pet.
Important to you, but not important to most other people.

When I take off my shoes at home,
I like to put them in the same spot every time.
If someone puts their shoe in my spot, I get annoyed.
