Monolingual English speakers who make fun of non-native English

speakers' pronunciation and accents get on my nerves. I would like to see those people trying to speak another language. Pathetic morons

    @Teresa yeah it is ridiculous. But unfortunately happens quite often. I still remember the first time that I practiced english with an american (10+ years ago), he just interrupted me and said "oh you are mexican taco taco burrito" (I'm not even mexican 🤦🏻‍♂️)

    It's kind of ridiculous that Americans have the audacity to make fun of non-natuve english speakers when most of us only ever learn 1 language.

    @Santos your pronunciation is perfect by the way! But I really hate that!!! I wished people would just be more understanding and considerate towards non-native English speakers who try to learn English. English is not an easy language for them to learn.

    @Joy Exactly! Yesterday I went to my local convenience store and the cashier had the AUDACITY to tell one elderly Hispanic customer to “learn to speak English. This is America or go back to Mexico” simply because she had difficulty expressing herself well in English !! I have never lost my temper in public before but yesterday I definitely let him have it. How dare he! To think there are still people like that in 2021, especially in NY, one of the most diverse states in the US is outrageous.

    @Teresa Yeah, thats absolutely embaressing and ridiculous. America is supposed to be "the melting pot." Yet, there's still so many white nationalists who think differently. I really hope we can see more change in the years to come.

    @Teresa I know what you mean . That is why people are so worry about there accent because they don't want to go trough those bad moments and some are very understandable and even so they want to inprove their accent and talk like an enlgish speaker . To be honest if i am understandable i would never change my accent . I stil have an accent and i like that . Because then people will be curious about you and they will aske you where you are from and etc . Although there are people that are still racist and will remain racist for ever

    They should learn how language acquisition is difficult for adult learners(Relatively than kids) by looking up some scientific/linguistic journals or at least simple videos(ex. Noam Chomsky's theory). Of course, the English language has a superpower and great benefit to learn considering a geo-political situation and past history, but it can't be justified that other languages are worthless or English is the only language that we should admire. Probably their mocking or bullying come from this mindset.
