I starter learning japanese like a year ago, for quite a few reasons actually.
To start off with, since I was a kid I was really interested into asian culture mainly Japan/china but I grew up to understand that china wasn't such a great place, so I started really enjoying the japanese culture through social media, movies and so on...
Secondly I had free time during the coronavirus pandemic and I didn't want to waste it.
Lastly I really wanted to do something productive that will be useful while I'm a teenager, I didn't want to waste 5 years of my life only having fun with friends, playing video games.
And bonus reason since I was kind of into anime at that point I thought that if I started learning japanese, the time I spent watching anime would start to become productive as it would enhance my Japanese vocabulary and listening skills.
