知らない and 分からない
I’m confused which one to use when I want to say

‘I don’t know’ - can you give me some examples of when to use them?

    似たような意味ですが、受け答えの時に、知らないというと少し冷たいイメージです。　なので、Do you know where my phone is?って聞かれたら　「あぁ、ちょっと分からないです、、🙏」って感じで答えます！

    知らないを使うシチュエーションですが、　「Hey! Did you know Ariana get married!?」 「OMG! I didn't know that!」 「えぇ！！知らなかった！！！」 って感じで使います！　この場合、分からなかった！は変です

    知らない means just you don't know 分からない means you think about it, but you can't find the answer But there are not so big difference. e.g. Where is my pen? →just you don't know ＝知らない →you don't know, so you think, search, but you can't find ＝分からない I hope I can help you a little.

    You can use the both as the same word. But when you want to use i don’t know because of your capacity or capability , you have to use 分からない. Ex can you read these kanji? わからない。 If you add four to three, what do you get? わからない。

    知らない kind of remote like I don't know 分からない like I'm not sure

    In most of the cases 分からない is better.
