The first fairytale I remember reading and being told was the
Vietnamese 🇻🇳 version of Little Red Riding Hood. Now, you may be wondering, “What makes it so different from the Western version?” Well, in the Vietnamese version, the wolf still eats the grandma first and disguises itself as her until Red’s arrival, except when Red comes, it gobbles her up as well 🐺🍖🤠 When the hunter walks past the house, he finds grandma’s snoring out of character and decides to investigate. Upon seeing the wolf, he pulls grandma and Red out of its belly before proceeding to shove large stones in it (via a slit that he made in it with a knife) 🔪 When the wolf wakes up, it tries to run away but falls over and dies due to the weight 💀When it’s time for Red to leave, grandma notices that another wolf wants to eat her when night falls, so grandma plots a scheme to drown the wolf and succeeds 💧The end 😌I think that the grandma is my favorite character in this version, because she’s so cunning and determined not to be fooled for a second time. I also really enjoy how dark and weird this story is 😌
