What do you think about the practice of using an 'English name

'? Personally, I find it strange. I prefer to know the persons real name because a name is important. Some people might like it and think its fun to choose but I also think we English speakers should make the effort to use the names of those we are speaking with and learn how to pronounce them properly. 🤔🇨🇳🇯🇵🇰🇷

    I totally underatand your opinion. but, as you know, because lots of koreans have same last name such as “Lee, Park, Kim”, sometime it’s hard to figure out who is called. that’s why I use English name :) it’s just my personal opinion 😂

    Hello. I’ve learnt a lot of examples where resumes with white-sounding name will get more calls back. I guess that’s why people want English names.

    @Роза과Rosa I think that might be a seperate topic. I mean specifically even in the native country where we are not expected to learn native names.

    @James you can do it, but it's ok if you don't. I personally will make my myself introduction as my Chinese name first and tell them they can call me my English name. Otherwise if'll be just be too much trouble😅cuz names are hard to remember for someone and Asian languages pronunciation could be very difficult for someone who doesn't speak.

    its a nice try for whose people are learning english coz they dont just learn the language. they also learb the culture as well and its kinda convenient for them to communicate with others if they have a name of the language they r learning.

    I can pronounce an ordinary English name correctly, but for some names I don't know how to pronounce it. In this situation, if he or she has a Chinese name that would be better. But if we get to know each other from a long time and I think i'd like to learn his real name.

    As far as I know, Japanese don't use English name unless it's really difficult for English speakers to call their name or recently some parents name their children global name which both Japanese and English speakers can pronounce like Emma, George, Lisa, Emily, Louis etc.. I think many Chinese and Korean use it instead of real name and I felt strange or mistakenly considered them as native English speakers before I knew that. I'm proud of my personal name, so usually let them know and call Japanese name or short nickname based on it. 😄

    @rinako Yea I dont think it is as common in Japan. Personally using the real name makes me feel more connected to the culture and the language Im trying to learn. I love language and culture and peoples names!
