Really random question, but during sns do Koreans not use '*

' to correct themselves if they've made a mistake ?
Every time I spell a word wrong or mistype something, my friends get confused when I correct myself with '*'
example:
friend: what are you doing?
me: just listening to music, youM
me: *you?
friend: what ?

It's only common for people used to English or foreign culture. Mostly, we don't use it.

We usually retype the sentences or words to correct. I learned the rule of ‘*’ on Hellotalk. It’s kinda difference texting culture.

Yeah I've never seen my friends in Korea using * in that way. Meanwhile I use it all the time and most of my friends here (in the US) use it as well.
