This day last year was my first day in Nagasaki.
Mid morning
I was debating whether to see Gunkanjima Island.🏝️ I reserved a ticket but there was a wait. ⌛While I sat and pondered my options the rain became to come pouring down and in that moment I thought lets not worry about it. 😂🌧️ I decided to take a stroll in the rain instead before heading back to the hotel to decide what to do next.
I decided to visit the Hypocenter Cenotaph. So I caught the tram to visit the site of the Atomic bomb had been detonated. It was another moving and emotional experience like in Hiroshima. Perhaps the rain brought an even more sadness to my time there.
Next, I visit the Peace Park and was touched by the sculptures and singing voices of some a school children's choir. Who had prepared a loving tribute arranged by their teachers.
That evening I returned back to the hotel. Dry off after the rain. Then I walked to Chinatown for some of Nagasaki's famous dish Champon.
