Idiom of the Day
“Pulling your leg” (or his/her leg, my leg
, etc.) If someone is “pulling your leg,” they are telling you a believable lie to make a joke with you. These will be little lies to get someone excited, only to laugh about it later. Maybe someone would say to you, “Oh! That man over there winked at you!” Or, “Hey! Let’s go skydiving!” when you are actually terrified of trying it. Anytime you joke with someone like this, you are “pulling their leg.” If you think someone is lying to you, you can even ask, “Are you pulling my leg?”
