かぜのつよいひのたのしみ! - Fun on a windy day! 🌀
To close out the holiday
weekend, I took my daughter cross country skiing today. It was only her second time, but she did just fine. The only complaint I got was when she was getting hungry, so it was a successful outing. 😄 We packed our lunch and ate it on the trail. It was a nice day, but we experienced gusty winds. I knew I had to go up in elevation to find good snow and I was not disappointed. There was a nice base and with the freezing temperatures the skis were gliding well. I was able to take some dramatic shots, particularly later in the afternoon when the sun was low. The winds were really blowing hard above treeline. The cloud formations were also interesting. On the way back there was this rather spectacular view of an illuminated rock face against a dense cloudy sky. I had to stop and photograph it.
Tomorrow it's back to work, still at home of course. The governor has lowered the health alert level from red to orange, which means restaurants and cafes can reopen for indoor dining in limited capacity. Not that I am rushing off to eat somewhere, but at least it's a sign things are stabilizing here - not so in some other parts of the country, unfortunately.
