Living in Japan. My opinion on the good and bad.
Good 🙂
1. People
are really nice here. One of the cashier briefly left her work and walked me to the train station while it was raining because I missed the last bus!! 2. The streets are very clean. Americans really need to learn that littering is not okay... Also, I don't think I've seen a homeless person here.
3. The onsen culture is amazing. Japanese people love to bathe hahahaha
4. Food is amazing!!! 🍣🍤🍥🍙 I noticed Japanese cuisine tends to be very simple and natural.
5. Japanese fashion is conservative and elegant.
6. Transportation is convenient with a lot of trains and buses that can take you anywhere.
7. Nature is beautiful out here. 🌸🍂 Cherry blossom, mountains, forest, rivers
8. Japanese toilets. Life changer!! Heated toilet seats and bidet hahhaaha
I can list way more positives, but I'm stopping here.
Bad 🙃
1. Driving in Japan🚦. Can't turn left on a red🛑! You drive on the opposite side of the US, so turning left is equivalent to turning right. Also, the street lights are time based, so you have to wait forever for the light to change.
2. Sorting trash. Very painful to make this into a habit, but it's good for the environment.
3. Not many English speakers. It's difficult living here if you don't know Japanese.
4. Difficult to make close friends, since Japanese people usually have a circle of friends who they are already comfortable with. Also, it's not like California where talking to strangers isn't a big deal.
5. Poor insulation. My house is freezing during the winter and unbearably hot during the summer.
6. Japanese people are too apologetic🙇♂️. Sometimes it's my fault, but they say sorry to me lol
