I am a very proud Indian.
I am from Sikkim And I am often mistaken
to be a Chinese, Japanese or korean So, what is it like to be mistaken for being a different ethnicity than I actually am?
“It is mixed. Sometimes it feels great.
Because some people are like;
‘Woah! You look like a korean actress, are you sure you aren't korean?'
you look like a doll, a Japanese doll!’.
And I swear, It feels good to hear them.
On the contrary, to be honest, it gets annoying. Like really, really annoying. Not to the ones approaching me for the first time, because obviously I'm aware that I don't look like a typical ‘Indian’, but the ones constantly nagging me with questions and assumptions and comments like;
Are you really Indian?
You look like Chinese
I can go on.
So, what do I do about them?
To the first time asker's, I explain.
That I look less Indian and more Chinese or whatever..as I have mongoloid features. And I cannot do anything about them. You know.. genetics.
