Join the lucky draw and you’ll have the chance to win a brand new car!

His chances of winning the election are pretty low.

I want to see more opportunities for young people.

I had the chance to work overseas.
I had the opportunity to work overseas.

Thank you for (giving me) the opportunity.
Thank you for (giving me) the chance.
Please give me one more chance / another chance.

V+ing:

1️⃣She tried _________ (kill) herself, but her roommate stopped her.

2️⃣ He tried ________ (kick) the vending machine to make it work, but it didn’t help.

3️⃣ I tried ________ (read) this boring book to help me fall asleep faster.

4️⃣ I tried ________ (read) this book, but it’s very difficult to understand.

5️⃣ If you think you’re underpaid, you should try ________ (talk) to your boss about a raise.

I’m going to try to fix the sink myself.
I tried to fix the sink myself.
I fixed the sink myself.

A: Have you reached Tom yet?
B: I tried calling him on his cell phone, but it went straight to voice mail.
A: Maybe you should try sending him an e-mail.
