I woke up to a cold and frosty morning but nevertheless I decided

to take a walk over the fields and round our little village ending up with views of golden Autumn leaves that leave their mark behind. By the time I arrived home I felt quite refreshed and ready for a cup of tea and breakfast.

@JasonHong no, if you woke up IN a cold and frosty morning doesn’t give you the same effect as woke up TO indicating you became aware of some happening.
