ことしはキノコにとってひじょうによいとしです。- This is a very good year for mushrooms
. 🍄This is the final post in the series about my summer camping trip. I went a little overboard with a total of 16 posts, but it all seemed worthwhile to write about and share the photos I took along the way.
This one is something for mycophiles (mushroom lovers). At the last lake where we stopped this amazing sight unfurled before us. First, I spotted one mushroom, then another, and pretty soon it turned out to be an absolute mushroom paradise. Mushrooms not just in abundance, but also growing huge! I really don't recall any such sight anywhere in the past.
There were so many fly agarics (red mushroom with white spots)! Although very pretty, those are hallucinogenic and poisonous. However, there were also many mushrooms of the prized boletus family. Some beautiful, huge and seemingly healthy (not wormy) specimens, right by the hiking path. I was enthralled!
I regretted having such a long drive home, the mushrooms would not do well sitting in the car in the heat and then I would have to immediately clean and cut them up at home. Thus, I passed on collecting any with a heavy heart... 😏
The drive home was about seven hours and we got back in the dark. We brought home some very good memories. I am glad my daughter is not only tolerating these camping trips, but actually really enjoying the time. She even told me she preferred camping to staying in an expensive hotel! What more can I ask for? 🤠
If you've been bearing with me reading my posts about this trip, thank you very much! I don't think I will ever run out of things to share as it takes me so long to put together a post and I am constantly out and about collecting new stories. 😂
