who is following an otherwise normal and moral lifestyle decides to "break bad" and enter into an immoral or an illegal lifestyle.
In the case of the tv show, the lead character was a teacher and got cancer, then lost his job and his health benefits. He had to find a way to pay for his treatments, so he went into the illegal drug business of making and selling meth.
