Excerpt from Remembering Tanizaki Jun'ichirō & Matsuko by Anthony
H. Chambers.MATSUKO: When Tanizaki was with his dog, he always had cookies in his pocket, because the dog liked them. One dog, a chow chow, wouldn't leave the house after Tanizaki died and Mrs. Tanizaki had moved. Another dog, a collie (or was it a sheep dog?) they had received from the Agriculture Ministry, wept when told that Tanizaki had died, and then died soon after him. (8/5/79)
