Idiom of the Day
“Cross your fingers” &
“Knock on wood”
These
two idioms have very similar meanings. To “cross your fingers” or to “knock on wood” is to ask for favor, luck, protection, blessings, or a small wish to come true. We may say, “Well, today is my interview day - cross my fingers I get the job.” Or, “Everyone at work is sick except me. Let’s hope I stay healthy - knock on wood.” In both cases, you are hoping that God, nature, fate, etc. will reward you.![](/moment-web/static/img/icon_moments_likes.png)
