Phrase of the day “It’s been a minute”

We use this slang phrase

to say that it’s been a long time since has something happened. It doesn’t refer to the 60-second minute when used in this context. A close synonym would be “it’s been a while”.

It’s used informally, and can be both spoken or written.

Here’s an example:

Mark 🗣 “Wow! John! Long time no see!”

John 🗣 “Hey Mark, yea, it’s been a minute...how’ve you been?”

    @Minping “its been ages” would be the same yea. “Its been a minute” is a fairly new slang phrase, whereas your one has been around a long time
