Today is March 17, St. Patrick’s Day. This is not a holiday but

is celebrated in many countries, including America and Ireland where it originated. Ireland is famous for leprechauns, clover leaves and beer. Saint Patrick’s day is celebrated in America by wearing green, holding parades and drinking beer. It said that on St. Patrick’s Day everyone is Irish.

Unfortunately, in many countries, young people drink too much and consequently, too much violence and accident. I hadn't never hear about this when I was in Vietnam. How about those countries have you lived ?

Saint Patrick was a missionary who went to Ireland and vanished paganism. He converted many to catholasim. It’s just a celebration of a saint. As years went buy, people just added stuff to the legand and now people wear green and drink. Just like Halloween.

In America, we have Irish American traditions because our ancestors were immigrants. We eat corned beef and cabbage and Irish potatoes-- a candy that you can only find here in Philadelphia!!

@Dave hmm I’d disagree. They literally whipped out other peoples religions and forced them to be catholic. I for one am sad that I have no clue what my indigenous cultures is cause the Spanish made sure many natives or mestizo didn’t practice their ways. Some are content with it, others aren’t and you can see that in many native communities in Mexico and other places. But that’s the actual story. He went it and forced paganism out. I’m pretty sure many Irish still follow the old way and others don’t 🤷🏽‍♀️ it’s 50/50. Also, like in Mexico, we combine things so that we won’t loose it, like the day of the dead. The natives added a bit of Catholicism so they won’t ban it.

@Dave oh yeah, the drinking and wearing green doesn’t bother me. People only think of that when they think of St. Patrick’s day, when in reality it’s supposed to be a holy holiday to celebrate this saint. But hey 🤷🏽‍♀️ people like it. It’s like Halloween, I love it but I know it’s not just about costumes and candy, but an important day for pagans. Oh I know bad things happen, but erasing of other peoples beliefs and cultures is sad.
