The grading systems differ from place to place, and even from
school to school but this is what my school‘s system is. Below are *some* of the grades entered for my Algebra II class. We’re graded on homework, tests, quizzes, classwork, etc. Then my grade is weighted (different grades have different weights on my overall grade) and then is averaged into a GPA for that class.
This has an impact on both graduation as well as college acceptance. For example, a college will say “a student must have a 90 GPA”. As for graduation, if students in my school have a GPA of 65 or below by the end of a semester, they must repeat the semester.
For reference, my Algebra II GPA is 95. The highest grade possible is 100.
