“Speak of the devil”

If you are with friends

or coworkers and you are talking about someone, and then as you are talking they suddenly appear, we will say, “Well, speak of the devil!” We say this because it is like the devil was listening to you and then he teleported to hear all that you were saying. This is not done in a negative connotation, but rather a positive one. Usually we will say this idiom when we are discussing a project where you are needed, or people were giving compliments about you. It is almost never said while spreading gossip or talking negatively about someone.
