I watched Minari the other night and really enjoyed the relationship

between David and his grandmother.

Her spunk and spirit are so fun to watch, and I love how she interacts with him.

Has anyone seen it? Thoughts?

    关于文化身份的思考，导演主要还是集中投注在男孩David和外婆这两个角色以及二者的互动上。 David是在美国土生土长的二代移民，他对韩国文化的理解渠道来自于家庭教育。 作为说著流利的英语、习惯了美国式生活的他，除了无法更改的人种特征外，身上已经没有多少韩国人的痕迹。 这与刚从韩国移民过来、对美国文化尚且陌生的外婆恰恰是冲突的。 所以我们可以看到，David期待外婆到来，而外婆到来后又显得无比的抗拒。 这是因为外婆的形象不符合这个“美国小孩”期待中的“美国外婆”。 David这个角色在某种意义上是影片的核心。

    미국에서 한인 마트 갔을 때 한국 농산물 파는 것을 보고 신기해 했었는데, 영화를 보고 나니 그 때의 호기심이 해결되며 동시에 이민자들 삶이 한층 더 고달팠겠다 싶네요. 그리고 외할머니와 외손자의 티키타카는 영화의 별미죠. 배우 윤여정의 연기는 정말 한국스러운 모습을 보여줬다고 생각이 듭니다.

    外婆焚烧垃圾把房子点着了。哎，这个家庭好不容易才有一点转机.... 电影的开放式结局，让那种自由的意志在生活中延续，同时家族的凝聚力也大增。

    @徐放 I know, the fire scene was so gut wrenching. Yes, the open ending left you with the feeling that they had grown closer as a family and still had that will to continue living freely.
