english slang of the day:
“to act brand new” // verb
when
you say someone is “acting brand new” you are saying that they are acting drastically different than they usually do due to the circumstances or people that are around. usually it means they’re acting like they’re way better than everyone else, but it can also be used to say someone is acting like they don’t know what they’re doing (even though they probably do) “I don’t get it. Marina was acting brand new or something yesterday even though she’s been doing this job for 3 years now. I think she just wanted Chad to do the work for her.”
“Stephanie was acting brand new last night like she didn’t even want to be around me. She pretended I was just another one of her classmates when her popular friends came around.”
