“Don’t judge a book by its cover”

This is

a popular idiom in the US. We will say this idiom when we want to express to someone that they should not have preconceived notions about what they see. Sometimes what we see on the outside doesn’t match what is on the inside. On the show “Undercover Billionaire,” RJ looked like a tough, mean criminal covered in tattoos. But in fact, he turned out to be one of the hardest-working and kindest people on the show. He even sold the shirt off of his back to a customer. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
