I’ve noticed that a lot of people that
are learning English have learned the conversation “how are you?” and “I’m fine, thank you. And you?” This isn’t wrong but it may be a little unnatural. There are many different ways to reply to or ask this question, but I’ll provide some possible ways down below. For strangers:
“How are you doing today?”
“ doing good, how ‘bout you?”
“How are you guys doing today?” (Multiple people)
“doing pretty well, how ‘bout yourself?”
“How are you guys doin?”
“pretty well, you?”
“How’s your day been going?”
“Can’t complain. And you?”
For friends:
“hey, what’s up?”
“Nothing much, what’s up with you?”
“How’ve you been?”
“Pretty good, how ‘bout you?”
“how’s your day been going?”
“ it’s been going” (you use this when you are saying that you’ve been getting through the day but it’s been a little long)
Comment down below if you have any phrases that you think could be used, and I’ll let you know if they’re good :)
