ながくてたいへんなレースです。- It is a long and tough race.

This is the third

part of my mountain festival presentation, an event I attended recently (centered around a burro race).

The Arrivals:

Today, I want to write about the arrival of the racers at the finish line back in town. I just looked up the race results. The fastest completion time of the short race (24 km) was 2 hours 29 minutes with the last arrival time showing as 6 hours 15 minutes. For the long race (47 km) the winner had a time of 5 hours 57 minutes and and the last to arrive clocked in at 11 hours 48 minutes, which is well after dark!

Each arriving runner and burro was greeted with cheers and applause. The festival overall has a very laid back and cheerful atmosphere. Most people gathered for the race start, parade and reenactments and by late afternoon the crowds had thinned considerably.

I really liked the name of the donkey in the second to last image, Spaceman 🤠. Spaceman finished 50th out of 63 in the short course.
