① 想像(未来を考える)
will vs. would
I’ll have another beer. もう一杯ビールを飲む
I would have another beer if I didn’t have work in the morning. 朝には仕事がなかったら、もう一杯ビールを飲むのに

② 丁寧に「〜したい」を言う
want to vs. would like to
〜したい 〜するのが好きである

③ 過去
wouldn’t vs. didn’t
I turned the key but the car wouldn’t start.
キーを回したけど、車はスタートしなかった
(wouldはdidより頑張ってやってみたって感じだ。didは車が自分の意志ではスタートしなかった。)

④ 過去の習慣
used to と wouldの違い
used toはwould oftenと同じ意味(よくした)だけど、「よく」か「〜していた」みたいな言葉•文法がないと、wouldを必ず使う
When I was a child, I would swim in the lake (今はやらないとのニュアンス)
子供時に、湖で泳いだ
I would often play tennis when I was younger.
私は若い時に、よくテニスをした
