Except Scotland has been continually denigrated by the political class of England (primarily London) including through the destruction of Scots dialect and encouraging a cultural cringe. All the while Scottish oil money was taken and used to create a financial center in London which benefits only the ultra-wealthy. So, while learning languages can help us better understand the mindset and culture of other nations, citing England for this isn’t a great idea. Through colonialism they actively sought to eradicate the culture and languages of other countries. The systemic racism endemic to the UK (and also to some extent the US) is in no small part a direct hangover from this. Nice sentiment though.

Why should I consider crazy liberals as true liberals, why should I consider racist Democrats as true Democrats? Every political view has a good version, even if you don’t agree with some of their viewpoints, but with every political version there are bad versions of those ideas where they include racism and other such topics, they do exist I do admit it but there is no true political party that centers around those ideas, well I know there are in other countries and I know there are in certain dictatorships which is sad. But I’ve always seen these two types of politics as separate, just like how I see terrorism and religion as separate.
