Storytime: Today we were clearing out some old items and among

them I was pleased to discover that I still hold my original copy of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. I can't believe that fourteen year old me once held this book and now I hold it at twenty-six.

At the time this book was part of the English curriculum at my school and so I think most British people my age will know it and the story therein. I feel nostalgic when I hold it and I can still remember the English classes where we read it. It may be the first novel I read and I read nothing for many years after.

I was a disobedient student in school but many of my teachers never gave up on me and always supported me. Now when I think of those teachers I am filled with gratitude for their generosity and selflessness. If you are a teacher, to you I also say: thank you. 🙏
